I've spent 16 years learning how to help people grow food in their own backyards and community plots. It started in the countryside near Alytus — my family grew vegetables to feed ourselves and our neighbors, especially during lean years. That taught me something important: gardening isn't a luxury hobby, it's a skill that matters.
After formal horticultural training at the Lithuanian University of Agriculture, I've worked with local councils, schools, and neighborhoods to design raised bed systems that actually work in Central Lithuania's climate. I'm not interested in perfect Instagram gardens. I'm interested in systems that work year after year, produce real food, and don't require a PhD to maintain.
Since joining mariaangeleshernandez UAB in 2019, I've written over 120 articles on practical gardening techniques. But more importantly, I've helped establish three community gardens in the Alytus district. That's where the real work happens — getting people's hands in the soil and showing them it's not as complicated as they think.
Completed formal horticultural studies at the Lithuanian University of Agriculture in Akademija, graduating in 2008 with specialization in soil management and organic growing methods. This foundation shaped everything I've done since.
Worked with municipal councils and local associations to design and implement raised bed systems suited to Alytus region's continental climate. We've established three successful community gardens that serve over 80 families and continue growing each season.
Author of over 120 articles on practical gardening techniques at mariaangeleshernandez UAB since 2019. I also conduct regular workshops in Alytus and contribute research data to the Lithuanian Gardening Association. My goal is making horticultural knowledge accessible.
Blend traditional Lithuanian farming wisdom with modern permaculture principles. Focus on soil health, water efficiency, and seasonal crop planning that works for busy people and tight budgets. Not every gardener has time for complicated systems.
I help people design raised beds that match their space, budget, and climate. More importantly, I teach proper soil composition, composting methods, and how to maintain soil health year after year. That's where most home gardeners struggle — they don't understand why their soil matters as much as the seeds.
I've established three community gardens in Alytus that bring neighbors together around food production. I work with municipal councils and local associations to design systems, manage plot allocation, handle conflicts, and ensure sustainability. Community gardens aren't just about vegetables — they're about building trust.
Central Lithuania's continental climate requires specific knowledge about frost dates, growing seasons, and crop selection. I've created seasonal planting calendars and guides tailored to Alytus region conditions. What works in Western Europe often doesn't work here — I focus on what actually thrives.
I grew up watching my grandparents garden. They didn't have fancy equipment or internet guides — they understood soil, seasons, and patience. But they also didn't know about soil testing or modern composting methods that we've learned since. I combine what worked for generations with what science has taught us.
That means you won't hear me talk about expensive supplements or complicated watering systems. You'll hear about good soil, proper spacing, and paying attention to what's actually growing in your garden.
Not everyone can spend hundreds on raised bed kits. Not everyone has perfect sun exposure or level ground. My job is helping you work with what you actually have — your space, your climate, your time, your budget.
I write practical guides because I've worked with families in Alytus who garden out of necessity, not hobby. That perspective shapes everything. If a method requires constant monitoring or expensive inputs, I don't recommend it. If it works reliably with minimal fuss, I show you how to do it.
